Module Summary
This is a compulsory module which all practitioners on the programme are asked to do. It provides you with an insight into the knowledge and skills needed to promote and develop singing for all pupils at Key Stage 2.

The module has a Study Guide & two workshops. One of the workshops is for those who feel themselves to be confident vocal leaders whilst the other is for those who feel less confident. Your answers to the following questions will help you and your mentor decide which workshop is most appropriate for your needs:
  • Do I feel confident to lead vocal work in a whole class setting?
  • Do I feel confident leading vocal performances in the public arena?
  • Do I have a range of strategies to support vocal development?
  • Am I familiar with resources to support & enhance vocal work?

If your answer is yes to most of these we suggest you do the Workshop for the Confident Vocal Leader, if not then the Workshop for the Less Confident Vocal Leader will be most appropriate.

Study Guide (Click to download the PDF - you must be logged in to do this)

This module consists of a Study Guide and one of two workshops.

The two elements are linked through two ‘Key Tasks’.  First, work through the Study Guide up to and including Key Task 1. You should take your response to this task to the workshop where it will form the basis of one of the workshop activities. Following the workshop, work through the remainder of the Study Guide and complete Key Task 2.

To demonstrate engagement with this module the minimum you should record in your portfolio your response to the two key tasks (guide: 400 words each). The activities within the module are there to support your learning and you are encouraged to draw upon them in responding to the Key Tasks. However they are not compulsory.

If you have not read the
Programme Handbook you should do so now.
