Module Summary
Composing and improvising are central to the development of children’s creativity and the opportunity to compose and improvise is fundamental part of all children’s music education. This module addresses the following questions:
Can I draw on a range of strategies to support children’s development as composers and improvisers in the context in which I teach?
Have I experience of integrating composing and improvising into whole class instrumental and vocal provision?
Am I aware of how composing and improvising can be linked to other art forms?
To demonstrate engagement with this module the minimum you should record in your portfolio your response to the two key tasks (guide: 400 words each). The activities within the module are there to support your learning and you are encouraged to draw upon them in responding to the Key Tasks. However they are not compulsory.
