The Context of Music at Key Stage 2
Module Summary
Children have an entitlement to curriculum music from the ages of 5-14 as part of the National Curriculum. Curriculum music at KS2 is affected by a number of factors which all teachers and music leaders working in this phase need to be aware of. This module address the following questions:
  • Do I have a good knowledge of the national curriculum for music at Key Stage 2 and its implications for the way in which music is taught?
  • Do I know the various ways in which music is organised and taught in primary schools?
  • Am I aware of the ways in which successful schools enable all children to learn and develop musically?
  • What is my understanding of current national initiatives and policies and the impact these have on music at Key Stage 2?
Study Guide (Click to download the PDF - remember you must be logged in)

The module has a Study Guide only. There is no associated workshop.

To demonstrate engagement with this module the minimum you should record in your portfolio is your response to the two key tasks (guide: 400 words each). The additional activity is there to support your learning but is not compulsory.

If you have not read the Programme Handbook you should do so now.
