Area Leader (AL)
The programme is managed locally by a team of Area Leaders who manage mentoring arrangments and liaise with Local Authorities running the LA Route. Click here for Area Leader contact details.

CPD
Continuing Professional Development

Core Module
There are two Core (Compulsory) modules on the CPD Programme: What is Musical Learning and Developing Vocal Work.

DCSF
Department for Children Schools and Families. The CPD Programme is funded until 2011 by the DCSF.

FMS
Federation of Music Services

Overarching Key Task
As well as the Key Tasks contained in the modules, one of the portfolio requirements is to complete this final Key Task. For more information on what should be in your portfolio click here.
 
Key Task
Each of the modules on the programme has TWO Key Tasks which must be submitted as part of your portfolio. For the eight modules that include workshops, you complete the Study Guide up to and including Key Task 1 before going to the workshop and take the response (and the Study Guide) with you. After the workshop you complete the rest of the Study Guide including Key Task 2. You then upload both Key Tasks into your online portfolio.
 
LA Routes
The option for a Local Authority to run the CPD programme in-house to cater for both Music Service instrumental teachers and classroom based music teachers. Click here for more information.

Modern Foreign Languages (appears in the Vocal Development Study Guide)

Module
The KS2 Music CPD Programme is made up of 14 modules. Practitioners undertake a Needs Analysis at the start of the programme to determine which of the modules they will take based on the prior experience.

Sing Up
The government campaign for singing in schools, providing song resources online and in the form of a magazine, and offering workforce development to schools co-ordinated by Area Leaders, which are sometimes organizations, and sometimes individuals depending on the area of the country that you work in.
